Artist Bio:
Josey Prior is a Naples native. She studied Fine Arts at Amherst College. After college she focused on oil painting inspired by the beautiful nature in Southwest Florida. Recently she found a true love for fashion and traditional methods of chainmail. She creates with the weaves once used for armor but brings them into modern times with a beauty and softness not typically found in chainmail.
Artist Statement:
In my creations I strive to use inspiration from nature, my loved ones, and my struggles with mental illness to fuel my creative spirit. Each piece I create feels like it comes from deep within me and that it is made because it needs to be made not because I think people will like it or that I’ll be able to sell it easily. Art is at my soul and has often been my reason for living.
