My work is a reconstruction of identity through fragments. I use collage, painting, and sometimes sculpture to explore the tension between the individual and the social environment. Each piece is built from found printed materials — magazines, advertisements, images from the world of consumption — which I recontextualize to reveal the psychological and emotional layers hidden beneath the surface. Color plays a symbolic role: it softens the critical themes embedded in the work, acting as a mask that conceals tension. Text appears as an additional layer of meaning — influenced by posters, propaganda, and advertising — becoming both a conceptual anchor and a visual counterweight to the image. The clock, a recurring motif, symbolizes time as both an internal and external force: a witness to experience, a reminder of transformation, and a mirror of personal struggle. Improvisation is central to my process. I begin each work as a kind of play — with no predetermined plan — allowing the fragments to find their place. This moment, somewhere between intuition and trance, is where the work reveals itself. Collage becomes not just a technique, but a way of thinking: embracing chance, contradiction, and the unexpected. Ultimately, my work reflects the experience of navigating two cultural realities — Cuba and the United States — and the hybrid identity that emerges between them. Each fragment is a memory, a question, or a piece of time reassembled into a new whole.
