As a maker of art, nature and meditation are vehicles that open my senses and ability to create. Even though the art is idea driven I strive to find its soul. I let the idea choose the medium and free the art to emerge from it. Feeling a connection with my subject is crucial to revealing its innate structure or “bones”.
My art journey has taken me to jungle-like settings in Florida, walks in the woods of Michigan and standard art studios. Whatever the art-making place the subject directs the path to creativity. The medium can be sacred tree leaves or botanicals, wire, paper or paint. I use whatever it takes to magnify the character of the idea.
I think of art as a way to experience life more fully. To share art is the final act of the making. It connects viewer, artist, and object–there is no separation. No viewer–no art.
