Under the Lights brings together the work of UAC Member Artists, Wendy Wagner and Joan Sonnenberg in a dialogue about presence, perception, and the quiet drama embedded in everyday moments. Like a stage illuminated just before a performance begins, the exhibition invites viewers to slow down and notice what is often overlooked.

Together, Wagner and Sonnenberg explore what it means to be under the lights, not only in performance, but in life. The exhibition considers how attention transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. In this space, the arts converge not as spectacle, but as lived experience: reflective, resonant, and enduring.

JOAN BRECHIN SONNENBERG
www.joanbsonnenberg.com
Born in 1930 Chester, Pennsylvania, Joan Sonnenberg is a contemporary artist that abstracts her everyday life with her passion for printmaking techniques and working on a large-scale. A mother of four grown children, Sonnenberg moved to Florida in 1997 and since 2000 has been based in Naples. Petite, but with robust energy and insatiable curiosity, Sonnenberg maintains her lifelong studio practice working every day with sustained vigor. Her daily 4-mile walks continually inspire new ideas. Joan began her studio practice as a printmaker creating large scale, mural-size etchings
inspired by images from photographs she took as she walked along the streets of the Northeast. Living in Pennsylvania’s Rust Belt for much of her life provided an abundance of industrial references. Evolving from printmaking to painting, much of the same kaleidoscope patterns and shapes remain. Joan strives to convey the harmonious coexistence of abstraction and realism, transcending and encompassing both doctrines.

WENDY WAGNER
www.wendywagnerart.com
I create drawings and paintings that explore the quiet depths of people and objects. My work is introspective- tactile, sensitive and reflective- seeking to capture not just form, but the emotions and stories beneath the surface.
I look for beauty in imperfection, with its subtle asymmetries and the quiet marks of time and experience.

Through texture, tone and composition, I aim to evoke a sense of stillness and
contemplation, inviting viewers to engage with the seen and unseen in a personal, intimate way. I received my B.F.A. in Painting from Moore College of Art and Design. To further my studies, I completed the four-year Advanced Fine Art Program at Studio Incamminatii n Philadelphia. I currently live in Naples, Florida, where I have a studio and gallery.
